Sushila served on the Nevada Cemetery Board from 2014-2022 and was reappointed in October 2025 for another term. She and her husband met and married in Nevada County 46 years ago. Sushila enjoyed 22 years locally as a school and public librarian. She now has time for playing with her grandson, learning languages, reading, writing, traveling and watching movies as a volunteer on the film selection committee for the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Nevada County.
