Rough & Ready Cemetery

14472 Stagecoach Way, Rough & Ready, CA 95975

A peaceful cemetery with trees, headstones, and graves under a clear sky.

Established in 1850, the Rough and Ready cemetery has been in continuous use, and contains approximately 400 burials. The site includes an unusual amount of well-preserved grave monuments and cast-iron fencing. The town was named by its founder, Captain A.A. Townshend, in honor of General Zachery Taylor, “Old Rough and Ready,” the 12th President of the United States.
