Cherokee Township Cemetery

Est. 1850. Open for traditional burials and green burials.

This cemetery sits on top of a hill overlooking Ananda and the old township of Cherokee. Cherokee Township Cemetery (also known as the Tyler Foote Cemetery) was recently acquired by the Nevada Cemetery District from the Ananda Church of Self-Realization. The district offers traditional burial as well as Green Burials here.

The cemetery is located within the grounds of Ananda Village off of Tyler Foote Crossing Road. It was established in 1853 and is currently active. To reach the cemetery, take Highway 49 north from Nevada City and turn right on Tyler Foote Crossing Road. Go past Oak Tree Lane and Ananda Way on the left, and continue to the next marked left which is Brotherhood Way Road. The gravel road just to the left of Brotherhood Way Road leads to the cemetery.
